Dry eyes is a common issue these days. It is caused due to under-activity of the tear glands that cause problems like pain in the eye and head, itchiness and redness in the sclera. If this condition prevails for long it can cause damage to the cornea leading to blindness.

There are various causes for dry eyes:

  • Decongestion
  • Antihistamine
  • Cold wind
  • Air conditioner
  • Blood Pressure
  • Cigarette smoke

Mentioned below are some natural ways to curing dry eyes:

Omega 3 fatty acids – All fatty acids are not bad for the body. Omega 3 fatty acid is one such fat that helps in curing dry eye condition. It is found in foods like tuna, groundnut, milk etc.

Humidifier – The actual cause of dry eyes is improper functioning of tear glands due to which eyes do not remain moist. This leads to friction between the eye ball and the inner skin of the eye lid leading to abrasion of the cornea. Using a humidifier in a room can help moisten dry eyes and thereby reduce the friction between eye lids and cornea.

Blinking – If you frequently sit in front of a computer and are suffering from dry eyes then probably it is because you stare at the screen continuously without blinking your eyes. When an individual does not blink enough, the moisture present in his eyes evaporates and eyes become dry soon causing pain in eyes and head. Therefore it is advisable to take breaks frequently and blink the eyes.

Vitamin A – works as a fuel for eyes. Consuming spinach, eggs, carrots etc. can help you fetch vitamin A to the body.

Curing dry eyes is not a big deal. Simple modifications are required in your daily routine can do it. So start following the above tips diligently and regain your healthy eyes.
